Iris RFID suite
IRIS INTELLIGENT REAL TIME INFORMATION SYSTEM
IRIS Suite is a complete RFID based solution developed by MATTTEO. Our user friendly system gives you real time information regarding stock levels, orders, implants and objects for multiple locations within the hospital. Thanks to the use of antennas, passive and active RFID tags we can completely eliminate barcode scanning, resulting in time savings for logistic employees. The real time data transparency allows you to proactively monitor the internal logistics IRIS Suite and can function as a stand alone system, but it is also very easy to link to the WMS/ERP system in your healthcare institution.

IRIS ANTENNAS
Our IRIS antennas can be divided in 3 types: Masters, Slaves and Focus antennas. The Master and Focus antennas contain the controller that communicates with the network. The Slaves merely enhance the signal range of the Master.
Each master antenna can be linked with up to 3 Slaves, so large rooms can be scanned without any problem. A focus antenna has a wider signal range of itself, but can’t be expanded with Slaves.
All our antennas are hybrid, which means they are not only compatible with the passive RFID tags used in our IRIS i-ROOM and IRIS i-CAB solutions but also with the active RFID tags we use in our IRIS i-Trace RTLS system.
IRIS i-CAB
It is possible to monitor stock levels for expensive consumables like protheses, heart catheters and stents in real time, when these products are tagged with passive RFID tags.
Where frequently used medical resources are being managed by means of KANBAN or topping up, expensive medical resources are tagged on item level. This allows you to manage and follow up these product stocks on item level.
IRIS i-TRACE
It becomes increasingly important for hospitals to trace in real time where devices, beds, wheelchairs and other movable objects are located at any given moment. As a response to this challenge, MATTTEO developed the IRIS i-Trace RTLS system.
Our hybrid antennas have a very good identification and localization performance thanks to our improved antenna technology. MATTTEO uniquely combines Bluetooth, LE, UHF, RFID and WIFI to create cross technological services to maximize flexibility.
Our IRIS web based software allows you to check through your computer, tablet or smartphone where objects are located where ever you are.
IRIS i-ROOM
IRIS i-ROOM was developed to manage the stocks of the medical consumables in the hospital departments. The backbone of the system is the interaction between the RFID antennas and the IRIS label holders with RFID tag. Because both components are crucial for the success of the system, they were designed and developed by MATTTEO.
The IRIS label holder
These label holders are placed on all compartments of the ISO modular trays and baskets. MATTTEO paid a lot of attention to make the label holder as compact as possible. The dimensions were limited to the size of a credit card. With this label holder it is possible to indicate in a simple, intuitive way the real time status of the product stock for each article. Our label holder works with both KANBAN and topping up.
THE IRIS LABEL HOLDERS INDICATE THE FOLLOWING 4 SITUATIONS
It is allowed to consume the product in this compartment.
It is prohibited to consume the product in this compartment.
The product has been ordered, as the compartment is empty.
Emergency order placed for this product, as both compartments are empty.
The IRIS label holders are very easy to use. By simply sliding the plastic labels in the holder, the nurse can indicate one of the four mentioned statuses. As easy as can be.
IRIS SOFTWARE
Our IRIS software gives a real time overview of the product stocks and the order proposals of the disposables and implants in the different hospital departments. It also allows you to check in real time the location of tagged objects inside the hospital.
When using the IRIS software, one can choose between the overview for one specific, several or all hospital departments. The logistic employees can decide when an order proposal is validated as an actual order. After approval, the information is automatically sent to the WMS/ERP system of the hospital. This interface can use XML, HL7 or a simple file transfer to import the information. All in accordance with the customer’s requirements.
An RFID hand scanner can be used during maintenance or as a back up system to ensure the logistic process isn’t interrupted. The IRIS software is a cloud based web application that is compatible with PC, tablet and smartphone.
IRIS gives the logistic employees real time information about the ordered products in the department stocks. A distinction is made between the regular orders (black order lines) and the emergency orders (red order lines). The real time information enables quick decision making and allows the logistic employees to work proactively. What will be tomorrow’s workload? How many order lines do we have to pick? Are there departments with emergency orders?
IRIS Software is compatible with computer, tablet and smartphone.
HOW RFID WORKS
WHY CLOUD-BASED?
MATTTEO consciously chose to make the standard IRIS Suite solutions cloud-based. The cloud offers significant advantages in installation, maintenance and updating.
This results in a lower price and allows MATTTEO to monitor the system constantly. Working in the cloud enables us to offer you a license fee with the maintenance contract included.
BACK-UP
In the unlikely event of system problems (e.g. network problems), you can continue working with hand scanners (barcode or RFID scanners). To support both back up scenarios, we can print barcodes on our RFID labels.
KANBAN
KANBAN is a two bin storage method used to manage the logistics chain. It was designed by Taiichi Ohno, engineer at Toyota, who was looking for a system to improve manufacturing efficiency through just in time deliveries.
KANBAN uses visual indicators to show when something is needed. A well implemented KANBAN system improves the logistic process because it enables JIT deliveries, avoids stock shortages and automatically creates a FIFO
system (first in, first out).
TOPPING UP
TOPPING UP is a single bin storage method where an order is generated when the minimum stock level is reached. The product will then be resupplied until maximum stock level.
The articles that were still in the bin, are put on top of the newly supplied products to maintain the FIFO principle. Both KANBAN and TOPPING UP are supported by IRIS i-ROOM.
