CHOICE OF TABLE MATERIAL
The choice of material depends upon the required usage of the worktops. What will come into contact with the worksurfaces and are there special requirements for cleanliness? Below you will find a selection of worktop materials available and if you are in doubt as to which ones are suitable for your task, we are always happy to advise.
LAMINATE WORKTOPS
Laminate worktops come with 30 mm board thickness, glued laminate on 2 sides. Front edge is supplied with either post-shaped or straight edge or glued 2 mm ABS edge strip. All edges are closed and sealed.
FACTS
The worktop is available with cavetto and the ABS edging is supplied as the same shade as the laminate surface.

COMPACT LAMINATE
Compact laminate is high-pressure laminate, which is made up of several layers of impregnated kraft paper. The standard thickness is 16mm but is also available in 12 and 20mm. Compact laminate has properties like ordinary laminate, however, compact laminate has a much greater impact resistance. Compact laminate is also suitable for wet areas or areas where insulation is required for organic material.
FACTS
Compact laminate comes with a solid black core.
Scratches in black compact laminate become light and are therefore seen more clearly than on other compact laminate colours available. Minor scratches in black compact laminate often occur during delivery, these are not subject to complaint.

STAINLESS
Stainless steel worktops are delivered to customer-specific wishes, both in the design of the worktop and the design of special sink sizes. Edges can be delivered with or without edging and different profile types are available.
FACTS
Stainless steel worktops are constructed from min. 1.25 mm sheet folded and glued on to wood fibreboard or chipboard coated with a melamine backing. Edges are folded over and sealed to the underside preventing moisture penetration.

Acid-proof stainless steel Aisi 316 with machine-ground surface.

COLOURS

EPOXY
Epoxy worktops have a high chemical resistance and are further distinguished by the fact that they can withstand reasonable heat exposure. Therefore, a really good all-round worktop.
FACTS
Made of solid 15mm thick plate.
Edges can be delivered with or without edging and different profile types are available.
The solid design prevents the ingress of water and moisture and at the same time provides an incredibly stable and homogeneous worktop.
MATERIALS
Solid epoxy.
COLOURS
White, cream, grey, dark grey and black.
POLYPROPYLENE
PP worktops are resistant to acids, bases and solvents, as well as offering a soft to touch working surface. In addition to areas with a large chemical load, they are also typically used for rinsing rooms, dishwashing rooms and wet areas. Glassware does not tend to break so easily when dropped onto a polypropylene worksurfaces as the material is typically soft compared to other worksurfaces e.g. stainless steel.
PP is easy to recycle and is considered "non-problematic waste" and PP therefore does not have the same environmental disadvantage as PVC.

MATERIALS

CERAMICS
Ceramic worktops are chemically resistant and do not stain. Ceramic resist’s everything used in a laboratory except for hydrofluoric acid. Furthermore, the worktop is scratch-resistant, frost-proof and will continue to look new even after long-term use. The worktop is also heat-resistant, withstands hard cleaning and is easy to clean, as dirt and coating cannot bind on the hard smooth surface.

The worktop is available with or without edge and rear upstand.
MATERIALS
Mixture of water and powdered clay, quarts, and minerals.
COLOURS
White and light grey.
CORIAN
Corian is an almost indestructible composite material. It is also a very comfortable material to work on. The worktop resists scratches, acids, UV radiation, is dyed through and can be processed into almost any shape, however Corian cannot withstand high heat.
Corian is easy to keep clean washing daily warm water and a mild detergent. A white Corian countertop can become discoloured by contact with brightly coloured materials such as flowers and tea. However, colour stains can be removed with chlorine.

Corian is a straight edged worktop with seamless fabrication.

PERFORMANCE IN TABLE PLATES
Zystm can provide many special solutions. Here is an example, detailing bushings in a worktop for refrigeration systems. The bushings are manufactured from stainless steel.
