Fire and lead cabinets
Zystm's program within fire and lead cabinets has been developed in collaboration with architects, users, the Danish Fire Engineering Institute and the Radiation Hygiene Institute. The cabinets can be delivered with fire pumps in different versions and as DB30 and DB60.
USE OF FIRE AND LEAD CABINETS
Zystm’s fire and lead cabinets are used for the following situations
- Sluice and pass-through cabinets located between to fire walls.
- Sluice and fire cabinets located between two rooms where extra sealing is necesary due to differential air pressure.
- Sluice and fire-lead cabinets located between rooms where protection against radiation or isotopes is a requirement.
INCORPORATION
Fire and fire-lead cabinets must always be installed into walls becoming part of the building construction. The transition frame which is the cabinet/frame fixed to the wall must follow specific guidelines, please read about these guidelines under section jointing and lead lining.
TYPES OF CABINETS
Fire and lead cabinets can be simply divided into the following categories:
- Shelf cabinets
- Modular cabinets
- Parking cabinets
The cabinets can vary in dimensions and when specific widths of cabinets are required, for example, when parking carts, these can be supplied with double doors.
FIRE CLASSIFICATION
Zystm’s fire and lead cabinets can be delivered for the different fire classifications.
The European class is the most recent classification which came to market in 2020 providing details of all types and the required variations.
The below conversion table shows the different classes and confirms which product is to be used for each situation.
Special attention must be taken as to whether self-closing doors are described as these can be different according to location as detailed in ”not carrying, separating building parts” as per requirement considering all other conditions. Where the European class code includes a ”C” the self-closing doors are a requirement, which is the same with Zystm’s range.
DOOR CLOSERS IN PASS-THROUGH CABINETS
When door closers are a requirement it is essential to have thorough discussions with the cabinet users to fully understand the requirements.
Door closer systems to cabinets can often complicate opening when the user operates the cabinet as the door will automatically try to close.
Therefore it should be considered to supply a door closer system with automatic delay or hold. Furthermore, it is possible for the system to attach to the CTS so the cabinet can be controlled from central hold and kept open during the period of use.
